— As Emolga Council Boss Promises To Deliver A Brand New Magistrate Court Complex in Twelve Months
As the chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd continues to attract commendation over his sterling performance within one year of his administration, the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi has described as appreciable the council chairman’s deliberate effort towards improving the working condition of judicial officers serving in Emohua Local Government Area of the State.
He thanked the Local Government Chairman for initiating intervention projects aimed at improving the dispensation of justice within Emohua magisterial district.
The Rivers State Chief judge made the commendation at the inauguration of the temporary site for Emohua magisterial district renovated and furnished by the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd in Elele-Alimini community, Emohua LGA; one of the activities marking the one year anniversary of the council chairman on Saturday.
The Chief Judge while expressing gratitude to Gov Nyesom Wike for his unmatched support to the judiciary, acknowledged Dr. Lloyd’s commitment to consolidate on the Governor’s achievements in the judicial sector in the State.
He however noted that the welfare of judicial officers was beyond the purview of the third tier of government, and commended the Emohua council Boss and his Khana LGA counterpart for going a step further to initiate intervention projects in support of the judiciary.
The chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd in his address reiterated his administration’s commitment to reposition the Local Government Area, while acknowledging the importance of the judiciary to his administration’s war against crime and criminality in the area.
The council chairman said the provision of the temporary site for Emohua magisterial district in Elele-Alimini community was in line with his administration’s vision of improving the working condition of judicial officers and staff serving in the area, with a view to improving justice delivery.
He said the provision of the temporary accommodation for the Emohua magisterial district in Elele-Alimini became necessary following the sorry state of the court complex in Rumuji town, which he said had already been earmarked for rehabilitation by his administration.
The Emolga council Boss who expressed gratitude to the state chief judge for honouring the invitation to inaugurate the temporary accommodation provided for the magistrate court in Elele-Alimini, pleaded for the creation of an additional magisterial district in Emohua LGA, with a view to improving dispensation of justice in the area.
He reassured of his administration’s commitment to the safety and security of judicial officers and staff posted to the area.
Dr. Lloyd went further to restate his administration’s readiness to deliver a brand new magistrate court complex to the judiciary within twelve months, to decongest the only magistrate court in the Local Government Area, which shares the same complex with the customary court in Rumuji.
Recall that the council chairman had on assumption of office in 2021 approached the state chief judge for the creation of a state high court division in Emohua LGA, to be constructed by his administration, for which a portion of land was also allocated to the council for the project by the paramount ruler of Emohua kingdom and chairman of Government recognized traditional rulers in Emohua LGA, HRM Ohna Sergeant Awuse, on behalf of Emohua kingdom, pending a formal communication from the state judiciary for the commencement of the project.
The Emohua Local Government Council under the leadership of Dr. Chidi Lloyd is also currently undertaking the fencing of the court complex in Rumuji town, in line with the council chairman’s commitment to the safety and security of judicial officers and staff serving in Emohua LGA.
Former president of Rivers State customary court of appeal, Rtd Justice P.N.C Agumagu, erstwhile chief of staff Rivers State Government House, Chief Barr Glory Emeh , former attorney general of Rivers State, Hon Barr Worgu Boms and former chief medical director UPTH, Prof Aaron Ojule were amongst dignitaries who honoured the well attended inauguration ceremony.
Meanwhile the Emolga council Boss has expressed gratitude to the leaders of Omeneta community in Elele-Alimini for donating the community hall to the Local Government Council, to be used as the temporary site for the magistrate court.
The council chairman particularly appreciated the Omeneta women group for obliging to give out their meeting hall to the council without hesitation, promising to initiate an intervention project at an uncompleted community hall in the community, with a view to providing a comfortable meeting hall for community gatherings, in appreciation for their kind gesture.
